Déversoir #10
LEs Déversoirs are intimiste artistic events at Le picardeau, combining performance, film, music and poetry.
March 2026, end of residency event with the filmmaker Johanna Schorn Kalinsky.
Johanna Schorn Kalinsky received the Price-residency Fondazione Claudia Cardinale at the festival FIDMarseille 2025, for her first feature film FERNLICHT. She was granted a month-long research and writing residency. In march 2025, she arrived without a project but with intuitions and a question : what stories do we need to tell in these complexe times, shaped by narratives of fear ? And from where ? As soon as she settled in, she decided to set out to open herself to her surroundings and to look outwards to reality and the people around her. Quickly she attention got drawn by tow people closely connected to Le Picardeau Nadia and Rony, and got struck by the playfulness and vitality of their relationship, developing into a genuine solidarity, she decided to film them and they agreed. Along her residency, Johanna Shorn gathered visual notes from this encounter. By the end of the month, made with the generous contribution of the cameraman Raphaël Rueb and the editor Carla Biays, she presented a precious 18′ film essay. Instead of closing herself up in her appartement in front on a blank paper, Johanna had taken the opportunity to experiment an active writing process. In a fast-forward motion, she went across the multiple shaky questionings of her creative process. She was able to deliver a genuine, caring as well as sharp character study, that matched her inner intuitons for a more desirable world and would nourish a much larger film project.
Born in Cologne, Germany, Johanna Schorn Kalinsky studied film directing in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the Universidad del Cine (FUC), followed by the Postgraduate Film Programme at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella. From 2018 to 2021 she taught screenwriting at the Universidad del Cine before returning to Germany. Since 2021 she has been an active member of the editorial team at Revolver↑, the magazine for film. She lives and works in Berlin.
