Each year, The Fondazione wishes to contribute to produce a new piece of work by one invited artists.
The Fondazione Claudia Cardinale has invited unclassified artist and director Marie Losier for a production residency in the summer of 2024. During her stay at Le Picardeau, with her dear partner and performer Simon Fravega, Marie Losier continued her work as a portrait artist, inviting friends, family and idols into a whirlwind of joy and imagination. Here, she was inspired by the presence of the actress Claudia Cardinale, who influenced her own personal film culture, which she photographed in her daily domestic setting, surrounded by friends and family of all generations. The setting, both baroque and rural, mixes everyday objects with haute couture dresses
The Fondazione wished to support a less known part of Marie Losier’s work, that of her photographic production which is a structuring part of her approach, which moves between long-term projects and spontaneous creative outbursts in drawing, photography and performance.
In film, Marie Losier has produced many avant-garde, intimate, poetic and playful portraits of artists and figures from the independent scene, always offbeat and colourful. Her work is mainly in film, but also in photography, drawing, sculpture and video installations. Her work is shown at numerous festivals and museums in France and around the world. After 17 years in the making, her film dedicated to the musician Peaches, entitled Peaches Goes Bananas! co-produced by Tamara Films and Michigan Films, had its world premiere at the Mostra del Cinema di Venezia, in August 2024.
Marie Losier also paints, sculpts and designs playful video installations. Her work is presented in many festivals and museums in France and around the world.
She is represented by the Gallerie Anne Barreau – Paris.
