#2 Manuel Maria Perrone

In June 2024, the director and performer Manuel Maria Perrone together with musician and composer Frank Williams offered a cinema and musical event to the public at the Fondazione.

A selection of the 5 short films: Golconda, Amen, Study on a Case of Old Age, Dreams of Opportunity, and A Cardinal Woman, the poetic portrait of Claudia Cardinale produced by the Fondazione to accompany the retrospective of the actress’s films, where presented by their author and the whole evening was set to music by Frank Williams, who composed the score to various Perrone’s films.

Manuel Maria Perrone works between France, Italy, and Switzerland as a director and screenwriter for film, theater, and radio. His works have been presented at the MoMA of New York, and in numerous festivals including Cannes-Directors’ Fortnight, and the Villa Medici of Rome. Through his various artistic media, he delves into themes such as animism and ghosts, the conflicting relationship between humans and nature, the liturgical and the grotesque, as well as his personal history as a Swiss and Neapolitan artist.

Frank Williams comes straight from the punk movement and the Parisian alternative scene. An actor and songwriter for contemporary cinema and theater, he collaborates with the performer Fantazio, and the director Justine Triet. He is the founder of several music groups, including the duo Williams Traffic with Nicolas Kantorowicz, as well as the group Frank Williams & The Ghost Dance.

#Vincent Moon

In April 2024, Vincent Moon held a session of his “live cinema” for the Fondazione.

As a call to the personal unconscious hidden behind our collective images, Vincent Moon devotes himself to a long-term research on contemporary trance. In each one of it’s “extra-ordinary” improvised performance the artist mixes live images and their sounds from spiritual rituals captured around the world. He draws on the inexhaustible treasures of his cinematographic and musical recordings made during his countless travels, among the people and lands of an elsewhere far or near but which always invites us to get out of our routine and simply from ourselves…

His poetic universe thus ignores the voice-over, and the basic documents of his shows display no information, no didactic commentary: for what matters in this experience is to let the imagination wander, to take free paths. An imaginary world made up of mysterious and fruitful encounters and coincidences, driven by a taste for impromptu and sometimes for chance…

Each screening therefore remains unique and exists only in the moment, each cinematic experience thus cannot be imitated or reproduced.

Vincent Moon is an independent filmmaker and sound explorer. He has been making films for the past twenty years, traveling around the world in quest of sounds, from stadium rock music to rare shamanic rituals, from experiments in electronics to a cappella village songs. He is now exploring links between ancient and new forms of ceremonies. All his work is published under open source licenses.

The Déversoirs, are supported by the association Les Amis de la Fondazione Claudia Cardinale, which was created to work alongside the Fondazione to develop local artistic and cultural projects that favor social links with the inhabitants of the territory of Nemours and the South Seine-et-Marne.
